Press Release 2006-08-20
FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLISHING
Tribe of Judah Online Ministry has a new chapter: EVE Online
Originally by: Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'
Originally by: 1 Corinthians 10:31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
How do these verses apply to us as Christian gamers? It means that games are a means to an end, and not the end themselves. Even while participating in recreational activities, the Bible says that we can give glory to God. If this sounds absurd, consider the Christian athlete who always plays according to the rules, refuses to take steroids, and openly credits God with giving him or her the skills to be an excellent athlete. Our love for Christ is displayed in everything we do, even how we play video games.
As Tribe of Judah members, we give glory to God through gaming. This means that our actions should show evidence of Christ's work in our individual lives; we are called to give Him credit for the many blessings He's given us. It also means sacrificing our time, giving of our talents, and demonstrating compassion to all people. Since Christ redeemed us, we are not our own, but His. Our love for Christ is possible because He first loved us. We demonstrate our love for Christ through worshipping him, but also by obeying his commandments.
These commandments include the Great Commission, in which Christ calls us to preach the good news of the Gospel and make disciples. To quote St. Francis of Assisi, "Preach the Gospel always, and when necessary, use words." We preach the Gospel through our witness as well as our words. The Great Commission also mentions discipleship, which means to teach the Word of God to Christians and help them develop their personal relationships with Christ.

Thank you thetwilitehour and INZi.
To the rest of you: It kind of amusing to see your reactions. Since I am not allowed to comment on your religious beliefs I will refrain from doing that.
However, if you decide to look into what ToJ is all about you will find that what was presented before you today has been done in other games like Age of Empires Series, Dark Age of Camelot, Guild Wars, Counter-Strike, Unreal Tournament Series, World of Warcraft etc.
As for the WarDecs: Bring it on |

You are right to some extent. With this being my 5th char in EVE I know that there are better things to dicuss that the latest theme bible or how many tanks Mr Bush have in his garage.
That said, there are more aspects to you "being forced" to play a game alongside openly christians. We will not play the game any different than most of you already play it today. We got some internal rules, set to improve the great atmosphere of our community and to assist new comers to EVE rather than to hunt them down.
Lots of feeling involved in this matter. I will not judge you for your beliefs, and hope that you will refrain from doing the same with me and my fellow corp members (who are DLing the client asap!) =) |

Originally by: Willis Drummond So is this some attempt at evangelizing the EVE masses or is this just a corp for people who have certain real-life beliefs?
Because if it's the latter then pretty much everyone in this thread is being a jackass.
Latter. The press release was intended to cause interest for the corporation and allow belivers to join a corp. where they can interact with likeminded people. |
